Before you ask, I didn’t pick up on this band just because of their fantastic name. Okay, I did a bit. Well, a lot really. But I’m glad I did, for once you get past the magisterial moniker, there is a fantastic array of music to be found.
They describe their style as “tropical trash, greasy garage, dirty disco, and party punk,” there isn’t a word in that missive that I would disagree with. You could throw in early rock and roll vibes, David Lynch-esque, off-kilter soundtracks and twangy, surf-rock sonics, drug-fug claustrophobia and psychedelic avant-gardening, but now I’m just making stuff up.
Imagine if a stoned, disenfranchised, outcast alien race had heard early rock and roll transmissions floating through the solar system and created their strange version of it. Well, that.
