Ahead of their first album, the wonderfully self-deprecatingly titled, The Best of…Short Porch Vol. 1, the band has given us Frank, a beguiling mix of sounds that incorporates gentle rock rhythms, spiraling, arabesque blues-adelic guitar lines, understated funk grooves, and a few soulful sonic moves.
I’m not sure what all that means either, but when a track this well thought out, this offbeat, and slightly oddball comes your way, all you can do is make up strange sonic soundbites and hope no one notices.
In any case, you should go and listen to the record and make your mind up…that’s always been the best way anyway. (Did I just talk myself out of a job…oh well.)
