I don’t pay much attention to the techy machines and algorithms of the modern online world; my brain doesn’t work that way. But, when playing the link to this new one from Dusty Edinger, the unnamed platform I was using did suggest in the “if you like that, you’ll like this” section that The Cars would be worth a spin, too. And the more I think about it, the more I realise there might be something in this techno-trickery after all.

Broken Soul Survivor exhibits that same blend of pop infectiousness, the same rock grooves, the same sing-along-ability, and the same accessible yet anthemic nature as Boston’s finest. I’m not suggesting that Mr Edinger is in any way plagiaristic or plundering past glories; no, he has his own signature sound, and this is a unique song. But what I am saying is that if you liked The Cars’ heady, new wave, pop-rock blends, then in Edinger, and particularly in Broken Soul Survivor, you will have found a torchbearer, someone to keep that sweet sound alive in the modern age.
