Well, what a funky brace of songs. As the name suggests, this single is a two-parter, what back in the day would have been known as a double A-side, but that’s just me showing my age. Not only a great band name but great music, too, with In A Room being a bass-driven slice of experimental rock, conjured up at the point where the words of rock and funk collide, a soulful groover soaked in sublime jazz-rock solos and spacious atmospherics.

Flip over and drop the needle on the other side of this fab and groovy, virtual waxing and you find a song that starts in the same lilting realms before cranking up the intensity, thrashing the guitars, and then heading off into more alt-metal realms…if the metal fraternity had this ear for the rhythm, groove and sense of fun.

If you like bands such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, you should give this a spin, if only to hear what they might have sounded like if they had kept their clothes on, put down the body paint, left the needle alone and written some decent songs. I jest, of course.

Or do I?
