I’m a sucker for a sultry, slow-burning song, and the new one from The Damned Few is undoubtedly that. They know the secret that any rock band worth their salt needs to understand, but few do. Big crescendos are much more effective if you start from below the sonic waterline. That big hit, that musical sucker punch, has further to travel, and so has more impact. Much more.

Someday is a song that makes full use of this. A sonic that runs from the understated to the torch, from the less to the more, from the vibrant to the explosive. Why don’t more bands understand the physics of music? But then again, if they did, The Damned Few in general and Someday in particular wouldn’t seems so special. Or, put another way, if it were that easy, everyone would be doing it.
