Proof, if indeed proof were needed, that the modern world is a small place, certainly culturally and musically, is found with bands like Thirdlead. If a band hailing from Benue State, Nigeria, that takes inspiration from the likes of Zeppelin and The Stones and whose latest single, Lost Forever, echoes with the sound of the likes of Pearl Jam doesn’t tell you all you need about genre and geography, then I don’t know what will.
It’s a slick and sophisticated sonic affair, taking in some classic sounds of rock’s rich past but nothing if not forward-thinking; its eyes are set on a bright future for Nigerian rock music and the genre globally.
