The pagan driven audio narrative of this recording evokes memories of long walks across rolling Wiltshire or Sligo hills punctuated by Tors, Wicker Men and ‘obby ‘orses.
The instrument sounds are beautifully balanced throughout and leave just sufficient room for the vocal to comfortably sit. Without being derivative, the arrangements are evocative of the softer moments found in the canon of Kate Bush but with a genuine celtic heritage and pedigree.
There is a host of very sensitive collaborations running throughout the work and you get the feeling that the studio time was used in a very uncomplicated manner and that the songs just fell out of the artists without any tension, disruption or misunderstandings.
If 2019 was was the year of the cowbell then 2020 is surely the year of the harp.
