Sadly, I didn’t get around to writing this up for yesterday, Science Fiction Day, which marks the anniversary of the birth of arguably the most adept and excellent science fiction writer of all time, Isaac Asimov, but better late than never. And whilst you do, give Space Walk a spin. It is a cosmic blend of soulful, soothing, ambient back beats, drifting sonic washes, and a narrative that mixes thoughts and technical information about the titular walk. This is a fine bit of soundscaping, creating the right balance of atmosphere and anticipation, evoking the calmness of the environment with the excitement of the feat being undertaken.

More and more music is being made that talks about our future beyond this planet and says something about our race’s aspirations and maybe the fears of what our homeworld is becoming. As a piece of music, it is aspirational too, mixing genres, finding new sonic outlets and new styles and reminding us musically and via the subject matter that adventure awaits us and anything is possible.

Per ardua ad astra
