A song made in timeless folk traditions but delivered with just enough of an indie sheen to place it in the here-and-now, Sea Son is a gorgeous number. Lilting and lovely, spacious and full of the gentle ebb and flow of tones and textures, it is one of those songs that reveals more hidden sonic depths and is more rewarding with every spin.
Familiar enough to wow the folk clubs, cool enough to appeal to the indie audiences and accessible enough to bother the pop charts, Colin Manson has a potential classic on his hands. Only time, and indeed tide, will tell.
