I loved the previous single, Left In October, and I love this new one. But, whereas that previous single seemed to crawl towards the listener on a wave of electronic menace and fragile and fractured guitar shards, Out of Ammo is more wonderfully direct and wilfully bombastic.

It struts and swaggers its way across a more rock-infused soundscape. But Avtumne is clever enough to offset this new-found directness and brooding bass line with shimmering sonics and chiming motifs to create something just sufficiently uncategoriseable enough to keep you intrigued throughout. It’s a great skill. It’s what she does.
