There is a spaciousness at the heart of Lifeline is rare in music. Space is one thing, but the bravery it takes to leave so much room for everything to breathe, drift and fade especially as the song first begins to take shape, is something to behold. It’s something that I’m a fan of and something that hasn’t been done this well since the early days of Damien Rice.

And as the song starts to fill in and form, it is also with that artist that my mind remains. I’m not saying that The Neighbourhood Watch is in any way copying what he does, but anyone who can work in that same world of dexterity and deftness and dexterity and do so this well has to be put on a pedestal.
