Having caught a recent listen of the latest single, Heartbreaker, by Florence & The Bare Souls, I urge you all to check out what is going on with her and the well-oiled musical machine that drives her music. I also wonder why I haven’t stumbled across them before considering that they are based just down the road from me.

Heartbreaker plays with familiar flavours from soul and big band glories past, but there is something undeniably of the here-and-now about this particular brand of nostalgic modernity, sort of like if Etta James had returned to us with the likes of The Black Keys as her backing band. Imagine that! Well, now you don’t have to.
