There are sweet spots between musical styles to be found all over the sonic map, but none seem to pay dividends as rich as the one where pop waves lap up on rock shores. It is a place where the infectiousness of one merges with the energy of the other. It’s a place where muscle and melody co-exist, groove and grit work in harmony, and where you find Lou Emery having the time of her life.
Fools takes all the best aspects and elements of both worlds and offers something that neither suffers the cliche of rock nor the shallowness of pop. It is anthemic, dance-floor compatible, chart-friendly, and it kicks enough arse for the rock fraternity to take it to their heart. In fact, I can’t think of any sector of the music world that wouldn’t love this. Fools perhaps?
