Funky! That’s the word for it. And unexpectedly so, especially as The Dassins seem to be working in a more indie-rock framework. But that bass line that takes us in, those beats that are both purposeful and propulsive, and the fact that, for the most part, the guitar is happy to grate and gyrate in the middle ground rather than hog the limelight make this a most welcome sound.

Sure, the result is in line with the heavier and more driven end of the indie landscape. There is even the odd whiff of Brit-pop and old-school mod-ness, but it is that funky groove that wins the day.

A fab and groovy waxing indeed.
