If the art of making a good album is to keep things diverse and interesting but do so within a cohesive and signature sound, then The Local 12 has undoubtedly made a great album here. Their ability to run through all manner of diverse styles – jaunty rock, intelligent pop, brooding soul, funky Latin, indie chops, and more, shows them to be a very creative outfit.

And to do so whilst keeping things very much sounding like themselves, never trying to emulate influences or inspirations, not openly anyway, never swerving into the path of fad or fashion, at least not deliberately, is what will keep them ahead of the curve. And I bet that they are a fun band to catch live. One day.
