If I say that Dusty Edinger trades in sounds that are both familiar and fresh, new music woven from styles with a proven track record – most obviously rock ‘n’ roll, soul and R&B – I’m in no way implying that he is just going over old ground. Perhaps a better description would be that he is forging a new and exciting path to a well-known destination.
‘Beginning To Break’ follows in a long line of foot-on-the-monitor, straight-down-the-line, fist-in-the-air (wow, that’s a lot of hyphens) artists, tipping his hat, probably a natty fedora, to the likes of Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, and even Pat Benatar…though obviously not vocally speaking regarding that last one. It’s a classic sound retooled for the modern era.
It is instantly accessible, riff-a-ramic, bursting with an easy groove and a rare pop awareness that turns rock music into something more chart-friendly, widely accessible, and stadium-ready without ever losing sight of what makes rock ‘n’ roll such a magical and marvellous form.
Rock music for the masses? Absolutely, in fact, you can stick that on the back of the T-shirt!
