Visions – Casper Sun (reviewed by Dave Franklin)

You have to look for the silver-linings, don’t you? And that is the vibe that beats at the heart of the latest single from Casper Sun, Visions. The world might be a challenging place at the moment, a pandemic running wild, economic hardship, political division spilling over into physical action, but it won’t be like this forever and perhaps the way to stay sane through all the turmoil is to focus on the good stuff, in this case the summer, treasured memories and the hope that you can be with the ones you love again very soon.

Although Casper Sun usually makes music which would be pigeon-holed as rap or hip-hop, Visions is more of a straight-forward pop song, a joyous, sun-drenched, nostalgia-tinged song but a pop song none-the-less. Steady beats, pulsing bass, a jaunty vibe and spacious guitar work leave the vocals front and centre and his deliveries display the deftness and dexterity you would expect from someone more used to firing off rapped word salvos.

A great song and a reminder to stay strong and that this will all be over soon. In the meantime, play the music that will help get you through.
