If you are old enough, as I am, you might remember that point somewhere around the late eighties when various post-pop experiments coalesced into a shoegazing and dream-pop sound. A time when bands such as pre-pop Lush and My Bloody Valentine ruled the alternative and underground roost. Well, Vazum makes music straight out of that scene’s playbook. And it is brilliant.
Blush has the bonus of being more energetic and driven than most music made in these realms, sounding almost as if Siouxsie and the Banshees had gone full dream-pop. Can you imagine what that would have sounded like? Well, now you don’t have to; now you have Vazum.
