Despite the connotations of chemically and herbaceously altered states that some might read into such a title, “So Very High” is actually a song about altruism, about helping others overcome their obstacles and getting high on the power to do some good and make the world a better place.

And, as always, this joyous message is powered by some equally joyous music, a blend of scintillating folk and raga beats, shimmering acoustica, and worldly wisdom.

Although I always seem to categorize Rob’s music as folk, its incredible blends of Eastern vibes and Western form, oriental grooves, and occidental moves make it, perhaps more appropriately, a new form of world music. Make that global music, as it is able to transcend borders and boundaries, geography and genre.

But call it what you want; genres don’t really matter anymore. What does matter is Rob’s one-man crusade to make music that is genuinely upbeat and optimistic, music that helps and heals, comforts, and reminds us of the power of something as simple as a song.
