You perhaps wouldn’t expect a German producer and a Canadian singer to be the natural parents of music that is an electronic take on Caribbean vibes, but that is a large part of the sound at the core of Slow Motion, the new single from Moon and Aries. For the last four or so years, Tom Aries and Jordana Moon have been reshaping the sound of electronic music and the nature of what some more established genres can be via this sassy and sensual sonic outlet. In this case, the iconic reggae sound.

Here, groovesome, island vibes are being channelled, and a message in keeping with the steady pace of the Carribean way of life is being conveyed. Jordana tells us that all life has an optimum pace: fast, slow, busy, or relaxed. Find the one that suits you, and your life will be all the better for it.

And Tom drives this message forward via the gentlest of sonic waves, a musical mesh of downtempo grooves and those all important bass pulses, ambient washes and reggae-infused piano lines. It is a sonic safety net perfect for Jordana to work her vocal magic over, reminding us that when it comes to life, and in this case, the pace at which we live it, one size certainly does not fit all.

As always, it is Moon and Aries doing what they do best, creating music which is gently infectious, widescreen and cinematic, understated yet brilliantly effective. Gorgeous stuff. Would you have expected anything else?
