You can feel it in the air, can’t you? Something fritzing the atmosphere around you. Something creating anticipation and intrigue. Something impossible to ignore. The sense of something sonically wicked this way coming. Well, that strange frission, that beguiling yet intangible vibe, that feeling that even as I write this you might think that I have probably gone way overboard on the hype, (but you just wait and see) that is the effect of a new wht.rbbt.obj album winging its way towards you.

We are not there yet (17th October if you must know), but you can get a taste of what’s to come via this new video that they have sent out ahead to tease the discerning music listener. Ladies and gentlefolk…”Monsters of Nothing.”

As always, they weave a unique sound; it’s rock music…well, more than it is anything else, but it is rock music built of both the recognisable – a soulful groove and futuristic pop-rock moves – and the truly out there – space-rock solos and cinematic 60’s sci-fi TV show soundtracks – a heady blend of the fresh and the familiar….and the freaky!

But, as much as the song is doing some boundary pushing and deftly creative things, there is, as always, a brilliant accessibility, an infectiousness, a spirit of sonic adventure that makes you want to go along for the ride. this is not music that you say no too, it is not music you can easily ignore.

Add to that the perfect video to reflect the lyrics (which are wonderfully open to interpretation, vague enough to be taken at face value, yet compelling enough that you might want to search for a deeper meaning), images drawn from the classic horror/sci-fi film, The Blob. “Monsters of Nothing” is a perfect blend of imagery and sonic art.

If this doesn’t keep you satisfied until the album drops in a week, then you are a very hard person to please.
