I appreciate a good pun, and Cary Aria’s new album title signals everything that you need to know about the music it contains. Smooth and seductive music, themed around island life and azure oceans, it is perhaps the perfect antidote to the last grip of winter that seems to be holding on longer than usual, at least where I am.

So, ten songs about getting away to warmer climes and ten songs running adventurously through different musical genres. We move from the reggae-pop of the album opener, “Bahama Bound” to the deftly done rock of “Life Is Good (Beach Life is Better)” and from the country-infused tones of “Picture Perfect” to the lovely, understated pop of “Where There’s A Will, There’s a Wave” (more excellent wordplay) and even some shimmering alt-folk in the form of the chiming and charming “Lighthouse.”

Seaduction is the perfect soundtrack to summer, or at least it will be when summer finally shows up. And even if you can’t get away to the exotic climes that he writes about in his songs, at least you can dream, and that is what is so great about the album—this is sonic escapism in all its glory.

By the album, book the tickets and pack the sun-block!
