A scintillating blend of soulful seductions and gentle rock ballad vibes, Wake Up is an excellent piece of music. It ebbs and flows neatly between understatement and anthemics, subtlety and all-out sonic crescendoes, and does so seamlessly and naturally.

It’s big, that’s for sure, not all the time, but certainly, when it wants to make a point, the music is unavoidable. But it is also clever, deftly put together, and intriguing. Big and clever? Those elements are rarely found in the same song, but they are here. And that tells you a lot about how great a track this is.
