The reference point might be a bit archaic compared with the current fads and fashions, not sit that aligned to the sort of genre tags that younger, hipper writers might be throwing about, but there is a lot happening on Timed Out that reminds me of Natasha Khan and the music that she makes under the Bat For Lashes moniker. And that can only ever be a good thing. No, make that a great thing.
The fact that Timed Out could easily have been a track on her masterful Two Suns album – forged of the same spaciousness and ethereality, the same mix of golden voice and digital delicacy, the same ebbs and flows of electronic pulses and eerie sonics, the deft songwriting and more – tells you everything that you need to know about just how great CAVN is.
