If my first encounter with the enigmatically named Dream of a Man in a Top Hat, the single Worry, was a brilliantly strange sonic affair, this new release is even more beguiling and unpredictable. It pushes their sound into heavier, almost garage rock territory, still with a hint of the psychedelic vibes of the previous single but now with more abrasive, squalling and gnashing guitars.

But The Bad Side is just as intriguing, wandering as it does between high-octane alt-rock and strange arabesque interludes, structured song crafting and avant-garde adventure. Given that, over the course of admittedly just the two singles I have written about, they seem to be moving into more experimental territory, I can’t wait to see what they do next.
