Any band with a resume that includes opening for such luminaries and Love And Rockets, Blancmange, Howard Devoto, Berlin, and Oingo Boingo is a band that you need to take a much closer look at. Second Language has a long history. The story starts in Los Angeles in 1981, and in 2024, they are not only back together but also releasing a mixture of archive re-releases as well as new material, Swing Time being one of the latter.
An excellent blend of nostalgic alternative pop and forward-thinking, contemporary indie smarts, Swing Time is a reminder of how great pop music, for want of a better term, was and how good it can be again, thanks to innovative and infectious bands as Second Language.
