Empress Eyes is one of those beguiling bands that touch on a lot of sonic realms whilst simultaneously making music which is relatively hushed and delicate and spacious, and dreamlike. It’s a conundrum.

Stay Dead works its way through floaty, ethereal soundscaping and touches on indie-folk realms before revealing itself to be a beat-driven slice of dream-pop, before cloaking itself with more alt-rock weight and finishing in gentle yet raw-edged shoegaze climes. Along the way, string washes dance with digital beats, haunting violins and pizzicato string sounds wander over cinematic sonics and Clare’s sensual and soulful voice subdues and seduces.

Brilliant.
