Sertraline is what pop was always meant to sound like. Somehow, we have ended up with the lowest common denominator type of music, all dance routines and guest rappers, inoffensive, all hype for kids too young to know better.

But, had the post-punk winds blown in a different direction and indie and pop music allied as they were supposed to, it would have resulted in a very different definition of the genre. The charts would be full of bold and bouncy pop-rock hybrids, infectious and cocky tunes brimming with energy and edge, buoyant groovers to dance the night away to, cut a rug, flip a wig, throw some shapes…whatever you want to call it. The charts would be full of songs like Sertraline, and Molly Meaker would be a household name.
