Mayhem! That’s the world. But mayhem, and musical mayhem at that, made in the very best of ways. That’s the Costavina tagline, at least on this song. Save Me is an interwoven onslaught of squallling guitars and driving beats, propulsive, depth-charge bass and vocals that run from the half-heard to the anthemic.
It’s rock, of course, but it pulls in from many sources – grunge abrasiveness, almost proggy technicality, punk velocity, rock volume and swagger. If this song were seen as the history of contemporary rock, I can’t think of a chapter that they haven’t covered.
