Ingaja’s music doesn’t so much groove, it glides. It isn’t governed by beats but beauty. It is all about the untethered, the ambient and the drifting gorgeousness that only comes when an artist knows that just because they have a blank sonic canvas upon which to make their music, they don’t have to fill every space.
And space is the keyword here, as it is the space, the lack of intrusive sounds that allows the light to get in, gives room for this minimal grace to make such an impact. If you ever wanted an example of what the term “less is more” means, you couldn’t ask for a better demonstration of that idea at work than on this understated and excellent album.
