Blending hypnotic guitar loops with pulsing basslines and unfussy yet perfectly placed beats with other sonic washes, Memory of a Place seems the perfect balancing act of ornate proggy soundscapes and intricate math-rock structures, cinematic sound scoring and dynamic, fluid music manipulations.
This is music made through clever deployment of instrumentation and expert layering, but it is far from being the sound of an artist showing off, however, they would have every right to, given how textured and tonally taught this is. Instead it is the sound of someone making music for the listener to be immersed in, wrapped in sound, cocooned, drowned, washed and submerged in sonics, completely and utterly.
