Toronto’s Streets To Ourselves might fit broadly into the pop-punk category. Still, there is something about their intensity, something about the volume and velocity that they employ on songs like Crash that also nod to rawer, earlier punk pioneers, such as Stiff Little Fingers or UK Subs.
If you are one of those people put off by the raw and ragged nature of such early stalwarts, then Streets to Ourselves offer the best of both worlds, the urge and energy of the early days coupled with the production and polish afforded to those that came later. It’s a win-win situation if you ask me.
