Pop music seems to have recently acquired a bit of a bad rep. Thanks to a whole host of style over substance, chart-hogging, lowest common denominator music, and their multi-million-pound campaigns to convince the buyer that this is as good as it gets, the standards have definitely dropped.
But that is why discerning pop fans, and anyone who knows that the genre can be better than what it currently offers, music that has to resort to guest rappers and dance routines, controversial moves and major marketing campaigns to get noticed, need to get behind artists such as David Vogel.
As Maybe You’re The Reason, his latest single, shows pop can have grace as well as groove, integrity and infectiousness; it can employ rock authenticity, run with indie music cool and still appeal to the existing pop audience. Not only a pop audience but a more discerning and even more mature crowd too.
Pop is not only back on the menu but also seems more satisfying and sumptuous than ever.
