It always pays to watch the support bands. Or, in this case, it always pays to turn up at a festival in time to see the earlier acts. Why? Well, had I been one of those people who only wants to see the bands that I already know that I like, I would have missed out on having my socks blown off by a tranche, possibly a tranche and a half, of great bands, many of which have gone on to become some of my favourites. Bands such as The Men They Couldn’t Hang, Power of Dreams, The Indigo Girls, All About Eve, Concrete Blonde, Warpaint and a little-known, movement-impaired, Parka-sporting, T-Rex tribute band called Oasis…I wonder what ever happened to them.
