With perfect timing, Little Meister’s brings us a soundtrack to summer. In his usual delicate and restrained style, we are treated to a piece which feels like the perfect accompaniment to the season. Between its spacious notes, you can feel the shimmering heat-haze, and your own mind even adds additional details, such as a background beat of the sprinklers of lush lawns and the noise of glasses being clinked together.

It neatly captures the mood. The relaxed day of rest, the lifting of our weekly worries as we take a day to ourselves, the music denoting calm and comfort, the gentle pace with which the last day of the weekend conducts itself, unhurried, detached and unfazed, the final hours of peace and tranquillity before the working cycles begin once more.

As always, there is as much atmosphere and musical direction found between the notes as within them, as much purpose found in gentle ebbs and flows than most songs could express in many times that number of chords or notes.

It is a triumph of minimalist musical art. This a reminder that the correct, carefully chosen, perfectly positioned note is worth ten who are placed merely to be functionary.

It’s a rare and refined art but is the hallmark of Little Meister‘s musical masterpieces.
