Blending the sheen of the chillout room of the most prestigious club in town with the gentle vibes of cutting-edge neo-soul, Emotions is a song that says a lot about where urban music, for want of a better term, is today. It is that intertwining of understated infectiousness – if that is even such a thing, still, you know what I mean – and sophistication, spacious atmospherics and an addictive shimmer that make the song such a sweet sensation.

And, as the song heads toward its final sonic act, Odibi seems to send the song into a repetitious loop, and the incrementally increasing use of that single title word are used to set up a beguiling dancefloor mantra.

So, as the song ebbs and flows gently between its digital beats and electronic washes, shimmering sonics and restrained and futuristic atmospheres, it sounds not only like a great indication of where things are at in the more mainstream world but is an excellent indicator of where things are headed next.
