Sitting at that place where soulful deliveries meet country lilts, “Country Lives in Me” is an autobiographical love letter to the place that Brei Carter calls home. And not just the specific place of her own upbringing, but the idea of the rural experience in general.

As acoustic guitars pick out a melody and steel pedals soar and swoon through the song, she paints an idyllic picture of the country life, a wonderfully poetic, beautifully nostalgic snapshot of her Louisiana memories.

Although now based in Nashville, the song is the epitome of the adage you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl, and also a reminder of a time before the responsibilities of life took over…something that we all have our own version of.

This perfect blend of soulful sentiment and melodic memories, country cool, and pop accessibility is a fantastic introduction to her album The Country Lives in Me, not only a collection of equally fantastic songs but a celebration of identity, resilience, and the power of music to inspire and heal.

Modern country music at its finest!
