Nice Light has trodden a familiar path to get to where he is today. From experimenting with recording the music he made as a very young man through a succession of bands that never quite made the grade to performing classic rock covers before introducing his original songs into the mix.

Today, his musical vehicle is anonymously titled No Named, and their latest single, “You Will See a Chance,” echoes all the hard miles traveled to get here. It is a big and earnest rock sound made in the classic style—big riffs, driving drums, pounding basslines, and anthemic vocals—yet updating that sound so that it fits in with the changing moods and fashions of today’s audience.

It’s better, I think, to have great songs echo with familiarity than try to change the musical landscape too much and lose the audience. People know what they like, and rock in all its forms remains as popular today as it has always been. So why not give them what they want whilst doing what you enjoy? A win-win, as they say. The result is something that is fun, fresh, and familiar and that will effortlessly ease into every existing rocker’s comfort zone.

Who doesn’t like the idea of that?
