A wise man once told us that the revolution would be televised. But thanks to bands like Fishbone (not that there are too many bands like Fishbone), it will also have a great soundtrack when the inevitable does happen.

“Last Call in America” sees these seasoned sonic adventurers doing what they do best—making the grooviest music, but also using their platform in the public eye to deliver lyrics that have something to say about the world today, and which also resonate with historical struggles throughout history. A sonic message that is both timely and timeless.

If you are just looking for a great song, look no further. “Last Call in America” is full of funky basslines and soulful guitars, the ebbs and flows of Hammond organs and great harmonies, energetic beats, and brass breaks.

But, perhaps more importantly, it reminds us that things aren’t getting any better, far from it. Although reflecting the situation in their home country, the message is relevant worldwide as those at the top seem oblivious to the needs of their people and prefer to line only their own pockets.

Come for the melodies, stay for the message. It’s what they do.
