If the subtle and soulful title track had already laid the groundwork for this album, it could only hint at what a great set of songs would be found beyond. Once you have revisited this gorgeously emotive opener, you realise that the journey is far from over; in truth, it has barely begun.
From there, Lourdes Pita wanders seriously, sensually and subtly sonic paths, turning heads and tugging at heartstrings. Casa de Luz runs on a gentle lilting beat, Solución runs on some Latin-pop grooves and Vida De Venecia sways between lulling lows and more dynamic highs. And then there are songs such as Ocho Vientes, which feel timeless in their dark and delicious blends of space, delicate piano and wonderfully wandering fretless bass lines.
If you thought that Lamento Cubano, the single, was an exceptional song in its own right, the album of the same name proves to be an almost otherworldly affair.
