Of the two sonic encounters I have had with Indecent Proposal, the sunkissed alt-pop of Feeling Good and the more coiled and considered Late In The Morning, their latest single, Behind Her Eyes, takes things to even more laidback sonic realms than even the latter release.
And if the band have previously shown that they relish a bit of upbeat fun, here things take a turn towards romantic tragedy, the story of plans gone astray, of a girl stuck in the wrong place, the wrong time and surrounded by the wrong people.
It is a painful story, albeit without a sense of redemption and optimism, and a tale treated with sensitivity by the band, too. True or not, it reflects real life and those many people whose path has taken them to places they didn’t expect. And as the song slowly builds from fractured sonics and reaches anthemic crescendos, we see her leave the scene…but for where?
