With a name like Dirty Power, I expected something a bit more straight-out, kick-arse rock and roll. But then, the more you listen to it, the more you realize that this song has all of that in spades; it’s just that they have translated those moves and grooves to a more acoustic-driven setting.
Behind that rhythmic acoustic guitar is a bass line that rumbles relentlessly, spurred on by powerful, spacious, and unfussy drum patterns. Add in the hushed harmonies of the vocals, and you have something as bold and brooding as any fully electric band. They even throw in a little funky break for good measure.
If you ever wanted to know the essence of rock and roll, then it is as if Dirty Power has dissected it and laid bare its essence for all to see without resorting to the usual show-boating and egotistical antics. Listen and learn, kids.
