Lately, I have been talking about music more in terms of geography than genre, referencing culture rather than style or scene. If you look at the bigger picture, that is precisely how it should be.
Ersha Island 二沙岛 is a duo whose music is also best framed in such terms. A “Chinese-Kiwi” sibling duo based in New Zealand, their EP, Back To Our Roots, is a gorgeous blending of Western folk and Eastern ambience, a sonic journey through ideas of homelands and displaced culture set to music that ebbs and flows through electronic beats and drifting soundscapes, gorgeous sonic beauty and deep, resonant lyricism.
Music with poise, pogniancy and purpose.
