Sometimes, you need a fresh start to unlock your true potential. NazTheMoon seems to have only found her voice when she moved from her home state of Louisiana to Memphis, Tennessee.
Not only did it give her a new perspective, but it also gave her material for her music. Local Freak Act is about leaving your past behind you, speeding those perceptions and attitudes held by others, and starting with a clean slate in a new place.
It’s a cool slice of alt-rock, all spiralling guitars and driving energies, but Naz is smart enough to allow all manner of indie grooves and even pop-infused accessibility to find their way in. The result is rather great.
