I guess that any song that simultaneously makes me want to play my old Cure, Bauhaus and Nirvana records has to be a good thing, right? I’m not at all suggesting that heavy wild is in any way riding the coattails of such seminal artists, but I bet I could have a fair stab at what artists might be found in their record collections. (Yes, I still call them records…deal with it.)
There is nothing wrong with wearing your sonic hearts on your musical sleeves, as heavy wild does on Death Dreams, especially if you take those sonic hearts and inject them with no small amount of (oxymoron alert) ambient noise and atmospheric mystique, not to mention musical eloquence, dark sonic elegance, poignancy, poise and purpose.
