Call it what you will: indie, pop, rock, blues, or fusion music, as long as you call it refreshingly well-constructed and wonderfully addictive. Like all good artists drinking from more than one sonic wellspring, Taro avoids the cliches and finds the elements that make them great.
It is pop with great hooks, indie with energy, rock without the self-aggrandisement, and blues without the melancholy. Throw in occasional Beatle-esque vibes (Judy), spacious and intimate ballads (Love is…), and David Gray-esque acoustic pop (The Answer), and you have a fantastic album.
