There is something hazy and hippyish about this new one from Astrachan. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way, actually, quite the opposite. I say it because it has that air of psychedelic sixties pop, that sense of dayglo fun, that feeling of bucolic freedom, that sheer joyousness that sets it apart, and indeed way above, the pack.
If optimism, joy and love could be packaged into a sound and contained, then this is what would emerge when you opened the box. We need more songs like this in the world right now and more artists like Astrachan, people who can put a smile on your face just by subjecting you to a few seconds of their music. That is quite a skill.
