Mentioned in Dispatches: Cycle – Yuna Kil

Angst runs right through the heart of this song. Not only does Yuna Kil build an intricate, ornate, and claustrophobic digital/industrial metal sonic complex, but it is also the perfect platform from which she can fire off salvos of disapproval and disenfranchisement at the world around her.

It’s a heavy beast and one that reminds us that, as those with long memories may recall, when all those guitar puritans and live aficionados decried the advancement of technology and synths and studio cleverness and digital creativity, they were wrong on so many levels. And songs like Cycle are the proof.
