“Hibbon” is the new single by french artist Tatiana Paris. The single is officially being released digitally today and is taken from her next album t h a l l e, which will be released on November 14 through french label Carton Records.
The thallus (thalle in french), refers to a plant without roots or leaves — lichens, algae. A form of presence in the world that unfolds discreetly, like the surface of a tree or a covering of the sea.
t h a l l e, is about randomness and correlation. How do unsynchronized elements come together to form a harmonious whole?
“I can feel great joy in organizing the chaos of these materials that, in fleeting encounters, align within the same moment,” says artist Tatiana Paris.
Following a first solo album, Gibbon, released on Carton records in December 2022 and over 40 concerts (Festival Météo, L’atelier du plateau, Jazz à La Villette, Baignade sauvage, Le petit Faucheux, Bruisme, au Pannonica, Jazzèbre, Instants Chavirés… ), Tatiana Paris unfurls a new section in which prepared guitar, voice and a touch of modular synthesis dialogue with the organ.
It moves between noisy chanson and spectral minimalism, like a fictional encounter between Fred Frith, Ellen Arkbro and Jules Reidy.
