This is the second time in the space of a week that I have found myself talking about music being made in Kyiv, the capital of a country currently in the grip of a vicious foreign invasion. I guess it is a testimony to the human spirit that despite finding themselves in the most horrific of circumstances, or perhaps because of it, people still feel the need to make art.
Electric Rime’s art is one of ethereal pop, a blend of chiming guitars and melancholic vocals, music laced with both power and pathos, groove and grace. And grace is a very poignant word here. Is not music like this, created in times like these, the very definition of the idea of maintaining “grace under fire?”
